In general, vaccinations containing inactivated viruses can be administered to pregnant women. It is not advised to receive live virus vaccines when pregnant. The following vaccinations are frequently advised during pregnancy: A shot of influenza. Pregnant women are advised to get the flu shot during flu season. Since the flu vaccine is prepared with an inactivated virus, it poses no risk to you or your child. The influenza nasal spray vaccine should be avoided as it contains live virus. Acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination, decreased diphtheria toxoid, and tetanus toxoid. It is advised to receive one dose of the tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine every pregnancy, regardless of when you received your previous dose. Pregnancy-related Tdap vaccination can shield your unborn child from pertussis, sometimes known as whooping cough.
